Looks familiar but cant place a name to it. Will put on my thinking cap

Tsugaike Kogen

That it is. Named after (and co-developed by the owners of) Hunter Mountain ski area in New York, USA.   Over to you, Muikabochi.

There can't be many more we haven't guessed!

;)

So far 3 out of 10 of the resorts in the relevant Popular Area in the new SnowJapan Resort Search tool have been named. Only 7 more to guess!

Hint: to what route was the red bus assigned?

Tateshina Tokyu

Well done, onehunga, it is indeed Tateshina Tokyu.

It is the only ski area with a single chair lift in the Tateshina area. If you look closely at a couple of the photos from the ski area, you can make out the tea-tray lift chairs.

Clues to the general region:

--Lake Suwa, known for the "Omiwatari" phenomenon where a crack in the ice sheet extends across the lake surface; the crack is traditionally taken to be the footprints of a male deity from one side of the lake visiting a female deity on the other side of the lake.

--Shokoji, a temple known for its sakura festival.

--The "Venus of Jomon," prehistoric clay figurine excavated near the base of Yatsugatake, after which was (presumably) named the...

--Venus Line, formerly known as the Tateshina Toll-Road, a scenic highway through the mountains of the Tateshina Kogen area.

--Chino, the name of the town in which the ski area is located, is also the name of a '70s western starring Charles Bronson as the title character.

As for the the name of the ski area itself, the red bus is on route 109 -- Tokyu.

Take it away, onehunga!
