Popular Post muikabochi 208
This morning the sun was out early on so it was time to get out somewhere. I decided to get on over to Hakkai-san, one of my locals. It wasn't busy, as you can see. The snow was pretty good. Pity they had the far left lift closed, I presume for weekdays, as I like that run. They seem very sensitive about the recent accident (and death) there, as there were regular warnings on the loudspeakers that I have not noticed before. Fine place. Nice cruising runs, moguls if you like them, and lots of trees to play in. Here's the pics. Frosty morning in town. On the way. I always like the layered fields going up there to Hakkai-san. Ski-jo on the left, Hakkai-san mountain on the right Isn't she lovely On the way up. Let's Ropeway! Bottom part of the skijo Top bit At the top View from the top Looking back towards Yuzawa. There's Muikamachi! I love these lines For some reason, I seem to like these lift towers too! Low lying cloud in Mimamiuonuma Ue-heyyyyy!

Scallywag 0
Never been there, but definitely interested.
Thunderbird2 0
I won Minamiuonuma tickets - thanks SJ - and wondering whether to go here or to Maiko or Hakkai. Both Maiko and here look great and never been. Thanks for showing us all these fantastic images muikabochi-san.
muikabochi 208
No worries, I'm have a heck of a lot of fun taking them! Maiko or Hakkai? Hmmm. I like both. Obviously, will depend on what you want as they both offer a different experience but I think I would generally prefer Maiko. Not mad on the hassle of the Ropeway at Hakkai myself. Maiko is easier to get to as well. Hakkai-san has by far the better original t-shirts though. Oh yes and beer!!
foreversnow 5
Muikabochi your photo's as always are PHENOMENAL!! Thanks for taking the time to share
norcal 5
Nice pics Muika. I always enjoy a place that has a nice view
RobBright 35
Maiko and ishiuchi are much easier to get to from Tokyo than hakkaisan, which involves a change to the local trains and then bus. Will report back on Saturday after muika has shared some of his remaining akiaji with me.
Tubby Beaver 209
I'm a bit concerned about those moguls........I hate moguls. Also the ungroomed stuff looks like it really needs a top up.....nothing much on the radar for this week eh? hmm.....a friend is going up to Kagura on saturday but I dunno if I wanna ride about on chopped up crud. It is forecast for a dusting on saturday....decisions, decisions!! I won tix for Minamiuonuma as well, plan on going up to use them on the 1st of Feb as I'm off and its a weekday.....hope the snow comes back before then
muikabochi 208
Snow was pretty good actually, Tubby. No complaints there. You can avoid the moguls, no worries. I never ski down that mogul course in the shot there. And there's a lot of trees to play in as well. Definitely worth a visit. As for this weekend who knows. Not looking too good but the forecast seems to be generally wrong all the time anyway. But if it's raining down below, I would imagine any snow higher up is a bit wet and heavy. Fingers crossed it doesn't work like that.
Tubby Beaver 209
yeah...I can wait until friday before booking the shink so I'll do that.........like I mentioned in another thread, kags and Naeba look to be ok anyway with the forecast as they are much higher, with their base stations about where the freezing level is forecast to be. I've become more and more a snow snob, if its not really nice blower snow then I think its crap.....should really stop thinking that way!!
muikabochi 208
Oh I'm definitely a snow, weather and scenery snob. But really, it was decent snow today. Always want a topup though of course.
Metabo Oyaji 71
I want to try that mogul course. Not that I'm any good at moguls -- hopeless, in fact -- but just so I can dream.

pie-eater 207
Yes, fab indeed. Do they sell the Hakkai beer on the tap at the base?
muikabochi 208
They might have in a restaurant I don't know. At the shop you can buy the beer and sake though. Not the same company of course, the skijo is a Prince resort.
RobBright 35
They sell bottles of hakkaisan beer and sake. My hangover can vouch for that.
