snowdude 44
Ok this winters forecast goes like this: I think winter will arrive early this year with possible heavy snow as early as late November or early December! Temps will generally be colder than average from Nov-Jan Not really sure about feb / mar at the moment! I think we will have heavy snow in December January, with lighter falls in February! But not sure about the second half of winter yet. I may update my forecast again if I think the weather will be different! Let's see how this winter turns out!

Jynxx 4
He consults Oracles, nine At least he is right that it will be an early winter...bloody snowed on Sep 19th down to 600m this year in Austria.
Go Native 70
From memory you had pretty good early falls last year too Jynxx. That didn't translate into an early start in Japan though... It is looking like another La Nina year but not as strong as that seen last year. This may well be a good thing considering how late the start was last season. La Nina years are normally colder than average over the Japan region and maybe with a weaker event an earlier start could be on the cards. Early snow cover across eastern Siberia is looking good and this has been linked to the ensuing intensity of the Siberian high pressure system that is essential for a good winter season. I'll be interested to see the forecast by JMA at the end of the month. They are currently predicting a reasonably mild autumn.
