This latest Hashimoto incident is a bit of a joke isn't it. There is talk that he tried to cock it up intentionally in order to get rid of Kan. He sure gave that a good go if true. Would like to see him run for prime minister, though there is the chance he could end up a disappointment like Fukuda, who was a better 官房長官 than prime minister. Actually, I don't find Kan all that objectionable, either. Kind of a Jimmy Carter figure, seems to me: heart in the right place, if not terriby politically effective.
