Maths quiz - what's the chance of this....

Recommended Posts

OK so I have just over 14,500 songs on my ipod.

There's 14 different versions of the song Personal Jesus on there.

Earlier this morning I was playing on random and 5 songs in a row it was that song - each one, one of the different versions.

What's the probability of that happening?!

Come on any maths dudes on here impress me?

kiss

All Depeche Mode.

I do actually have more but they are not all on the ipod at the moment. wink

Actually I do have the Johnny Cash one, that is seperate, so I have 15 I suppose!

The Marilyn Manson one does not deserve to exist.

wow...thought they would have got bored after the 5th mix.

This randomly reminded me of a friend who is a big Led Zeppelin Fan. He has every album, track, version, bootleg, cover.... you name it.

Going through his collection one day I found an album by a band called Dread Zeppelin. They cover Zeppelin songs in a reggae style and their lead singer is an Elvis impersonator....you couldn't make this up! lol

Well, I don't usually listen to them all together!

But when it comes to DM I have all of the official stuff and a fair bit of bootleg and unofficial material.

biggrin

Not into covers though really though there's a fair few out there.

The first song was not random as you chose it, whilst the ipod will never immediately play the same song again.

doh wrong!

(14/14500)x(13/14499)x(12/14498)x(11/14497)x(10/14496)

I'm confused now who I should be impressed with!

I would guess a big difference between the two below:

1*(1/14499)*(1/14499)*(1/14499)*(1/14499)

(14/14500)x(13/14499)x(12/14498)x(11/14497)x(10/14496)

!

They are both wrong. The truth is Mr Jobs personally selects each track your IPod plays. He cares that much....honest.
