Cio, I think that lack of responses is because no one has been there or no one knows anything about the place. Don't take it the wrong way and its certainly not what was suggested, that we won't comment unless its Nagano or Hokkaido. I most often ride in Niigata but also go to Gunma and have been up to Fukushima on occassion and I'm happy to help with any resorts that I know up there....unfortunately I don't know anything about places near to Osaka, sorry

cio I don't know the answers but why not take a look around:

It only took me less than a minute to get the above in the Resorts section.

Their website is on the first link page.

Good luck.

I mentioned Winghills because its about doable and they've got lots of snow guns. There are a fair few (long) day trips that can be done out of Osaka to Gifu and the other way to Hachikita etc. but you want to go soon and a lot of the resorts struggle for snow if the season is a late starter like this one is turning out to be. A quick look says Biwako Valley is closed at the moment due to rain wiping out their manmade. If all goes well it'll open again on Dec 23.

It might be easiest to ask the hotel or people you're staying with to contact a travel company like Kinki Nippon Tourist that runs day trips out of Osaka to see what they've got running. If you book a trip, be sure to tell them you don't need lift passes becuase they are usually included in the price.
