Snowdepth reported 60cm at that time News say it happened at Meradani couse 15~20 degrees slope angle, (which is not much imo) narrow gully . There is a steeper 30 degree course called Kabe that ends and joins at the bottom of that couse.. Last time when I was in Hakuba my daughter had an accident and I had to bring her to the clinic (Shitani or so). The waiting room had plenty of ski/snowboard people, 10-15 I would say.
