Too important for the "important" thread.

Remember this dude?

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">If Britain had an award for the most feckless father, Keith Macdonald would be a prime contender. At just 24, he has fathered eight children by eight women — and he pays almost nothing towards their upbringing.

Last week one of his former girlfriends claimed the total number of his offspring might be even greater. She believes he has been responsible for 12 children by 11 women and said: “He’s so clueless he wouldn’t even know if one of his kids was sat in front of him.â€

Macdonald, who lives in Sunderland, denies her claims but almost revels in his notoriety. In response to questions about his behaviour, he portrayed himself as the victim, claiming “they want a child for companyâ€. He also alleged that some of the women no longer allowed him to see his children.</div></div>

Seems he has been doing the dirty deed some more

Britain's most feckless father is having another four children - and is apparently 'engaged' for the third time in three months.

Unemployed father-of-10 Keith Macdonald - who pays just £5 a week to support his offspring - will cost taxpayers more than £2 million by the time all his youngsters reach 18.

He has got two new girlfriends pregnant, is having another baby with an ex and a fourth woman who was already known to be having his child has discovered that she is having twins.

But it remains unclear whether the latest pregnancies will make Keith, from Washington, Tyne and Wear, a father-of-14 or of 19.

The 25-year-old has admitted he has eight youngsters - and he now has another six on the way.

However, one of his former lovers has claimed he already has 11 children - so when the next eight are born he will have 19 in total.

He is now engaged to marry 32-year-old unemployed Amy Ward, from Chester-le-Street, Tyne and Wear, and she is expecting his child.</div></div>

Unemployed Clare Bryant (above) has already had one of Macdonald's children - and she is expecting again

People should not be allowed to have 10 kids unless they can pay for them.

That's actually really sad.Obviously he has problems looking after them, but as he is not abusive, aggressive etc why couldn't they place the children in an environment where he can visit them and be

You're right. These people are, like, HELPING the local economy! clap

Perhaps it would be the best strategy for society to encourage people who don't work and don't want to work to keep shagging and making huge numbers of babies like this to be brought up like this.

sorry, I just changed the post because I figured people would get the wrong impression.

Obviously unemployment is never going to help the economy. That's why I said I am so strongly for welfare reformation. On a temporary basis, yes it can help with their spending. My point was just to say that the 2 million pound figure given was utter nonsense. I was not trying to defend nor condone his behavior at all, which is a horrible reap on society.

Do benefits paid out to people not count as a cost? Not real money or something?

Don't all people who receive benefits spend their money on things like, er, food etc to simply live/survive. Or does it all just disappear out of the economy or something?

Maybe it's the Monday morning thing, but I'm confused Mitch. Tell me how the cash going out to these no-hopers is not a cost paid for ultimately by taxpayers just like any other cash going out.

Are there not more 'deserving' people out there?

You're right it is. The point I was trying to make is that it goes from the consumer, to an externality (the government), then re-proportioned to the lower ranks of society. Since this is only a temporary thing and if he stays unemployed it cancels any benefit. Basically it is a redistribution that otherwise wouldn't have happened. This is where the local economy sees the benefit as my case study went. Wealthier people tend to invest and purchase things that come from abroad economies (at least in Europe). Like I said, not defending welfare slugs, just pointing out that the numbers are never true when vilifying them.

Shiny what Mitch is pointing out is that the money paid out by the government in benefits to these people gets put back into the economy through their spending. It helps businesses. It's not just throwing money away. Ask yourself if these people didn't receive any benefits what would they do for money? Crime would be the obvious answer.

So although I believe in providing some sort of safety net for people I must say this little story does bring to light one of the biggest issues we face in society today. The chavs and bogans are out breeding the intelligent people. It's obviously been happening in the US for a long time as there appears to be very few intelligent people left there at all. Well they certainly seem to be a minority now. We do need to find a way to stop the stupidest, least intelligent members in society breeding so bloody much! razz

gg's solution above is a good idea but may be met with a reasonable amount of resistance... wink

Precisely...

I think the best thing to do is as GN said use the "safety net" as training or investment in human capital in another field. Then nobody has an excuse, ever. Clinton had an amazing idea that got shut down because of ridiculous partisanship that would have helped this country. Basically it was give temporary government funded internships to people who were displaced because of structural (technology change etc) unemployment and therefore it would be a continuous combatant against unemployment.

I don't what's less surprising, him being from Sunderland or being on incapacity, though a bad back is probably nailed on if you shag some of them.

And people have a go at the immigrants....

An update on our stud:

Quote:
As Britain's most feckless father, Keith MacDonald has done almost everything he can to escape responsibility for his eight children by eight women.

But just when many thought the jobless layabout could stoop no lower, he posed as a friend to announce his own death by text.

With a ninth child on the way, the binman's son was desperate to avoid paying out any more than the £5 a week he currently gives towards each of his other children.

He sent a text message to his pregnant former girlfriend Clare Bryant, 22, telling her: 'Keith is dead.'

Miss Bryant, who already has a one-year-old daughter by MacDonald, rang his mobile phone, but there was no answer. She then called the local hospitals and the police, but to no avail.

Two weeks passed before Miss Bryant found out that 25-year-old MacDonald was, in fact, alive and well. He sent her a message to apologise and told her that he wanted to 'get away from his life'.

Last night an unrepentant MacDonald admitted that he had pretended to be dead, saying: 'I get so much hassle from everybody.'

He then tried to blame Miss Bryant for starting the rumour. 'It all came from Clare, she started it off. I thought I may as well just go along with it.'

MacDonald, who is paid £44 a week in income support and has never held down a permanent job, denies fathering all but one of his children on the grounds that they have different hair colour from him.

It is claimed that he may have fathered up to 15 children, by 14 mothers. MacDonald, who met the majority of his conquests at bus stops, currently spends most of his benefits on lager and fruit machines.

Despite his growing family, MacDonald, of Washington, Tyne and Wear, refuses to have a vasectomy.

The growing bill to the taxpayer for his children could hit £1.5million by the time they all reach 18. The figure does not include education, NHS costs or any other public services.

Last night Miss Bryant, of Houghton-le-Spring, Tyne and Wear, said: 'I went through hell, I didn't know what to think. What sort of sick person pretends to have died?'

She says she was first told of his 'death' in a text from his phone on March 27, purporting to be from his flatmate, which read: 'Here, its Jason, just tho I would Tel u keith is dead he went on friday.'

'I was worried,' said Miss Bryant, whose baby is due on May 3.

'I was getting messages from Keith's Facebook page from someone saying she was his sister, Kim.

'The messages said Keith had died at his girlfriend's house on Friday night. I got in touch with the police and the hospitals but nobody could tell me anything.'

Two weeks later MacDonald contacted her and admitted the scam.

'I got this text from him asking me to be friends with him on BlackBerry Messenger,' said Miss Bryant.

'I replied asking him what on earth he thought he was doing.

'He eventually admitted what he had done, said sorry and that he had wanted to get away from his life.

'I told him it was the life he had built for himself. I am so angry, I don't want to have anything more to do with him. What he has done is beyond belief.'

MacDonald boasts that he has slept with more than 40 women. He first became a father at the age of 15. Miss Bryant gave birth to his eighth child, Paige, last April.
