oo 1
He's been under a bit of pressure of late. One thing about this dude - I don't think I have EVER seen him smile. Miserable bugger he seems.
rach 1
I see the latest sumo scandal has pushed them to cancel a whole tournament.
joshnii 2
Funny they are going round all the old peoples homes again and asking them their opinions - the old biddies and ojisans are just looking forward to their sumo entertainment. Don't take it away from them!
Tubby Beaver 209
like match fixing is something new in sumo
BagOfCrisps 24
Do people know this, or just turn a blind eye until now?
@tokyo 14
Looks like it might be about to all come out of the bag.
Jynxx 4
It´s hard to believe match fixing still exsists. I´ve seen problems with Baseball and Sumo match fixing on a very small scale in the late 60s early 70s but now!?
IIIII 2
i read that the sumo association gets tax breaks from the govt. er, why?
BagOfCrisps 24
Corruption.
Jynxx 4
National sport. Close to religion. Literally. Have been part of the shinto ritual. So not surprised about that. Who broardcasts Sumo? NHK. National TV. They ask for subscription, naturally they are concerned about the state of affairs imo.
Tubby Beaver 209
NHK broadcast it, so no subscription. Bags, a couple of years ago a Russian wrestler got kicked out for smoking dope, at his farewell press conference he declared that the sport was a joke and that its so fixed its unbelievable. I think he named certain wrestlers/sumo stables that were at the top of it all but of course he was shot down as a lying Gaijin who was bitter at being thrown out. Miraculously a few weeks later he changed his story and said that there was no corruption......phew! The Japanese psyche revelled in the knowledge that all was well in the galaxy.....he was interviewed last night and he confirmed that the Sumo organisation said he wouldn't get his serverance package unless he changed his story
BagOfCrisps 24
I hope the "real story" comes out, it would be very interesting to know what goes on and just how corrupt it all is. Is it declining in popularity with the locals?
klingon 10
They're a right pest them gaijin sumo dudes hey.

NoFakie 45
They've had it coming to them for years, I think. Maybe the "holy sport" type image has helped them hide it for so long.
grungy-gonads 54
Will it all get uncovered though. I'm sure there are forces out there now trying to make that not happen!
