Wendy's/Arby's International Seeks Partners for Re-entry into Japan
TOKYO, JUNE 23, 2010 -- Wendy's/Arby's International, Inc. (WAI), a subsidiary of Wendy's/Arby's Group, Inc. (NYSE:WEN), today announced its intention to find operating partners for re-entry into the Japanese market.
WAI is pursuing an aggressive international growth plan and sees the long-term potential for a large restaurant presence in Japan. WAI, with regional offices in Hong Kong, currently has a presence in six markets in the Asia-Pacific region.
With almost 30 years of experience in Japan, there were more than 70 Wendy’s® restaurants in the market when WAI announced the end of its previous franchisee agreement in December 2009.
The company is now seeking to partner with a major national entity or a small number of regional entities with an existing food service or retail infrastructure. Interested parities may contact Ashton Consulting at 03-5425-7220.
Some of the elements of WAI’s re-entry plan include:
An expanded menu with signature choices from both Wendy’s and Arby’s®
New restaurant designs
Dedicated R&D resources to help meet local consumer needs
Local WAI personnel with industry and market experience to provide assistance and guidance in operations, marketing and development efforts
Walter Hawes, Regional Vice President, Wendy’s/Arby’s International said: “We took out now have a re-entry strategy in place and we are looking for experienced operating partners who want to share in the potential for significant growth that we see in the coming years in Japan.
“We are eager to once again provide our loyal Japanese customers with their favorite Wendy’s menu choices, as well as introduce the market to roast beef sandwiches and other signature menu items from Arby’s.â€
WAI opened its first international dual-branded Wendy’s and Arby’s restaurant in May 2010. The restaurant is located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In addition, WAI announced in June a major development agreement for 100 Arby’s restaurants to open in Turkey over the next ten years, including 50 in the next five years.

Foul? Denny's in the States have great desert menu and the service in the States is great.

The Japanese Denny's don't have the desert menu like U.S but they have Japanese breakfast menu. Great value and professional dietitian advised.

None of my friends eats at Wendy's.
