loaf of bread 0
I see Office 2010 is released next week. Still using the version before 2007 and so recently downloaded the demo and been using that on my other computer. Actually quite like it. I thought I'd just say that. Nearly time for a new computer would be good to get that on it.
RobBright 35
OpenOffice all the way!
HighlyTrainedNovaTeacher 2
I'll be getting that on a new machine in the next few months. I like bells and whistles.
thursday 1
Paying for the most expensive software and deploying copies enterprise wide is the only way to go. How else will you get your tax break? And who's gonna support it if you don't buy Platinum service from MS.
muikabochi 208
Let's tax breaks!
thursday 1
I tried OpenOffice, but prefer the familiarity of MS Office. All a matter of habit I spose.
grungy-gonads 54
I also like whistles and bells. OpenOffice just doesn't have many of them. It's not just familiarity thursday, it's simply not as good. But you might expect that for something that costs nothing. Of course I realise how uncool that comment is. Please post mocking comments below. Thank you. Oh yeah, and OpenOffice doesn't help with the tax either.
RobBright 35
What bells and whistles are you looking for?

pie-eater 207
I'm upgrading to that. Someone else paying, so I'm cool with that.

stemik 14
I thought the UK version was excellent including the Xmas special. The US version is great as well.
2pints-mate 0
US one was rubbish.
JA2340 16
A mate has just got Win 7 and Office 2010 from our employer (at staff prices) and will be playing silly buggers this weekend, setting up his iMac with boot camp and win7. He's impressed! Expecially as O2010 hasn't been oficially released here yet.
scouser 4
I actually downloaded the demo or whatever you call it version a month or so ago on a computer that didn't have any word processor on it - mainly because I needed it at that moment! I like it, definitely a big improvement on 2003, though with 7 years I suppose you should really expect that! I wonder when my demo version will conk out.
loaf of bread 0
From Microsoft scouser: "The beta version of Office 2010 will expire in October 2010. Users can choose to download the trial or buy the full version of Office 2010 at that time."
JA2340 16
My employer (Gov Department in a State instrumentality) has only just managed to upgrade to Office 2007! We'll likely get to 2010 by the time the 2015 version gets out! Go figger!
grungy-gonads 54
Seems strange that they didn't upgrade to the new version. Why was that? A cost thing? Is 2007 much cheaper now? Surely it can't be because of the old "there's always loads of bugs in new software" argument?
TheOrange 0
Anyone know what the multi-language support is like in the new one. For menus etc? For 2007, you could buy a DVD that converted all the menus etc into English or other languages.
grungy-gonads 54
Been looking into this myself actually just yesterday... difficult to find confirmed info but it looks like multi language packs will be free to download this time. Lets hope that is the case.
TheOrange 0
Wow quick response! That would be good if true. While I can read Japanese a bit, it's slow and having things in English just makes things much more familiar.
TheOrange 0
Looks like it will be free http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/language/?CTT=3 On re-reading though, not clear about the free bit for the whole thing. We'll see!
