thursday 1
I guess it's because it's very close to Tokyo. And there are hundreds of unsuspecting first timers to Japan skiing (from overseas)
SKI 15
But foreigners are not the majority of visitors. Japanese are.
Tubby Beaver 209
yeah, its close to Tokyo, its spitting distance from the Shink, the shopping is good and you get cheap packages from JR. I'd rather go a little further and pay a little more and get great condtions
mina2 6
As an example Ca Et La in Gunma is 2000 yen on weekdays and 3000 yen on weekends. http://www.snowjapan.com/e/resorts/resortdetail.php?resid=
thursday 1
Like I said many posts ago. There are lots of packages to Karuizawa from overseas. One must do one's homework on SJ first.
SKI 15
Yes there are. But that does not mean that foreigners make up the majority of the visitors. They don't.
thursday 1
I'm not saying they do.
XilR8 0
Karuizawa open their season something stupid like 1st November. But it's well known that the place gets hardly any real snow, and almost all of it is man-made stuff. It's just not in a place that gets real snow. Easy trip from Tokyo, shopping for the lady, and simple access from the shink is about all it has going for it really.
Jynxx 4
Karuizawa has alway been a Besso (別è˜) area. People who have money have holiday houses there. That's what's popular about it, people go there in summer because it's cool and cooler there. If you don't have a house there, go in style staying at the Prince. No one in the right mind will go there skiing if you already are a skier.
grungy-gonads 54
Can I remind you what Rob said regarding beginners? There is a market for it, as proved by ----- people going.
