Do you know about the famous Snow Country book?

Many Japanese live in other snow town area of Japan call themselves about "Snow Country" too.

Where is the official Snow Country? (I heard it was Yuzawa, down to the south of me - is that right?)

Yasunari Kawabata was staying in Yuzawa when he wrote his Nobel prize winning novel.

The first line mentions something about coming out of the tunnel into the snow country at Echigo Yuzawa.

That first flash of white as you come out of the tunnel is always breathtaking - a very nice way to start a day at Kagura.

I read the translation a long time ago. I seem to remember it was pretty boring. His 'Meijin' left more of an impression.

Anyone ever been to that hotel. I'm sure they'll have some kind of museum or something to commemorate its significance...._?
