gareth_oau 2
There is a possibility I will be in tokyo for business February 2010. can I buy a domestic ticket to get me to Hokkaido (even if I'm on an australian passport), or do i need to arrange this externally? also, what sort of cost am I looking at (return)
rsser 0
Can be done externally and may be cheaper that way for tourists. Try the JAL Japan site. About $400 return to Sapporo I believe (to New Chitose airport, then bus or train).
thursday 1
Do it locally. 63 flights a day from Haneda to Shin Chitose. Air Do 21K. Some specials from them at 11K also. Check it out at the time.
Thundercat 60
Yup, Airdo is the way to go. I've got a return flight coming in at 18,500Â¥. Their website is completely Japanese but if you check there is an English contact phone number. If you can order your ticket 28 days in advance you can get the Airdo Special ticket which is about 9,800Â¥ one way. JAL is the next cheapest followed by ANA (both of which have good English websites for their domestic flights). Flying out of Haneda is cheaper than Narita. Have fun!! HelperElfMissy 42
Just booked some for Feb - quite heavily booked - $373 Aussie Dollars each return. (For the boy - I am not heading back up in Feb ) Why not hit up Hakuba if you are just doing a quickie side trip?
Go Native 70
Skymark also have cheap flights and an english website.
Jynxx 4
Bullet train is expensive when you think about it.
thursday 1
no bullet trains to Hokkaido
Jynxx 4
Of course. I was thinking, a lot of people in Kansai (Osaka) prefer to fly to Hokkaido rather than Shink and Buss.
gareth_oau 2
I shinked/bused to Hakuba in February and I'm thinking of flying up to Hokkaido or similar instead this time, depending on times and cost. thanks for the tips everyone, I'll look closer if the business trip materialises
BeerTengoku 35
Also try skymark for domestic flights. Just booked return flights for wife and I for Niseko on the 27th, coming back 4th March, total 35800. From Haneda.
9015peter 0
Welcome to Japan fare for 26000yen return, not confusing it to the one world fare for 10000yen for one sector
mals 0
+ 1 for welcome to Japan fares. If flying from OZ on Qantas you get the oneworld Yokoso fare and if Jetstar then you have to use the welcome to Japan fare. Most travel agents are not aware of them so link to JAL site. http://www.jal.co.jp/yokosojapan/ ANA also have one that I think is called visit to japan fare that is 13,650 yen
blu 3
ANA is more difficult to get as there is no local office (in Aus) anymore. JTB can arrange the JAL airpass: http://www.jtboi.com.au/ We have JAL passes- just hope the company keeps trading & doesn't end up bankrupt.
