Golf74 0
SJ, Any chance the links to the Nozawa Webcams could be fixed? Something seems to have gone awry in the last couple of weeks.
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan 178 Posted October 28, 2009 Author SnowJapan Admin Share Posted October 28, 2009 Hello. I'll put that on the list of things we need to get done. Thanks. With things like this we'd like to ask that people please either send it to us via PM or by email. We're happy to hear about these things but that way it gets sorted quicker by us and also leaves this thread uncluttered with this kind of request. Thanks.
muikabochi 208
Just uploaded some pics from Marunuma today. One observation. If I uploaded the photos as they were (ie. big 4+MB), they obviously got resized and one of two got a few jaggies. Nothing major at all. But if I resized to 750 pixels and uploaded, even large files, there were none at all. I suppose it's obvious that if the system is resizing there will be some effect like this, but thought it was worth mentioning. Not a big problem at all but bottom line if you want the photos to look their absolute best, and are silly fussy about photos like me, it is best to resize to 750.
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan 178 Posted October 31, 2009 Author SnowJapan Admin Share Posted October 31, 2009 Thanks muikabochi - yes perhaps we should make that clearer. The best way to maximise the quality images uploaded is to make them 750 pixels (longest side) before uploading. But of course if people don't want to mess around doing that, the new system will accept any size and shape and the resulting upload will generally look pretty good. In the next week or so we will be making lots of small changes to pages and information.
SKI 15
Good tip thanks. I plan to take pics this year.
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan 178 Posted November 3, 2009 Author SnowJapan Admin Share Posted November 3, 2009 We have made quite a few changes today but one that I would like to make note of is that we have made the numbers on the weather voting chart different sizes.... well actually the same size. Previously the "for the day" voting numbers were smaller, but they seem to be at least as interesting as the "in the last hour" numbers so we have made them the same size. Lots more little changes here and there and more to come.

I've seen that work well on an unrelated bulletin board. Bug reports, bans, suggestions, etc are all made in the feedback forum. That keeps the other forums uncluttered and allows the webmaster (or whatever you call yourself) to easily see if anything needs fixing.
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan 178 Posted November 4, 2009 Author SnowJapan Admin Share Posted November 4, 2009 It's an idea tripler, thanks. For the moment we really prefer that people mail us / contact us offline with things like this. For a number of reasons. One being that these discussions soon get in-depth and go off in all different directions and often require a lot of our attention - even when we sometimes don't want to give it! We are very receptive though when people do contact us, I don't want that to come across as 'we're not interested'. But I promise I will bring this idea up once more when we next sit down to talk about things. Perhaps when we are slightly less busy than we still are we can maybe do this. Thank you. SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan 178 Posted November 20, 2009 Author SnowJapan Admin Share Posted November 20, 2009 A few people have asked us about ownership of photos that are uploaded to SnowJapan. To be clear on this issue, we have added the following to the photo upload and photo help page. Hope that clears it up: Please be assured that we do not claim ownership of any photos uploaded to SnowJapan - ownership remains with the people uploading the photos. We will also not, under any circumstances, sell or distribute any photos uploaded to SnowJapan. By default, no username is stamped on the photos. However if you want your username/real name added to photos that you upload to SnowJapan, let us know and we will do that. Thank you.
