Why is it that so many people seem to be basically so stupid?

Are they, one wonders.

Perhaps we could collect examples.

Here's one for starters - "Driver Led To 100ft Cliff Edge By Sat Nav"

A driver has blamed his sat nav for leaving his car teetering on the edge of a cliff after he followed its instructions.

Robert Jones said he trusted his navigational system and continued to follow it when it told him the steep, narrow footpath he was driving on was a road.

Mr Jones, from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, now faces court action for driving without due care and attention.

His BMW nearly plunged down a 100ft cliff in Todmorden, West Yorkshire, on Sunday.

He was only stopped from falling after the vehicle rammed into a wire fence.

Police and rescue teams then spent nine hours recovering his car following the incident.

The 43-year-old, who works as a driver, said he relies on his sat nav for his job and described the incident as a "nightmare".

He told the Halifax Evening Courier: "It kept insisting the path was a road, even as it was getting narrower and steeper, so I just trusted it.

"You don't expect to be taken nearly over a cliff."

Mr Jones added: "I guess I'm just lucky the car didn't slip all the way over the edge."

The drama attracted crowds of onlookers in the picturesque market town that borders the Pennines.

One said: "It's like something off the Italian Job, but what a waste of police time.

"It's all well and good trusting your sat nav but how about trusting your eyes and when there's not a road in front of you, don't keep driving."

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Officers received a call at 11.18am on Sunday March 22 reporting that a BMW was hanging off the edge of a cliff off Bacup Road.

"The driver was a 43-year-old man from Doncaster. He has been summonsed to court for driving without due care and attention."

Well my first reaction to Miss Teen USA's video clip was;

"Oh My God She is SO Dumb" perhaps we should shorten that to

OMG-SISD so our young people can understand it.

You know sometimes it is really hard but I would never like her to think I am laughing at her (maybe once she has gone).

I actually think I could write a book on her life. I just have to tell you all this one quickly. Please keep in mind she is a pretty very tall blonde girl who is quite naturally well endowed.

She was going up to customs to collect something and she was running late and couldn't find a hair tie. So she quickly grabbed a pair of her g strings on the floor and tied her hair back. Ran around the house then jumped in the car went up to customs, stopped and did some shopping where a teller kindly pointed out that she had a pair on underpants in her hair. SHE HAD COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN!!!!! rollabout I have thousands of these!!!

She sounds like a very interesting person. Original. Unique. Mr. Bean ...

People have described me often as a "professional student" with cynicism and I can tell you knowledge is over rated. People say, "knowledge is power" but only true to a certain extent.

Intelligence is something very tangible and the way we evaluate it is not really holistic.

To me, a stupid person is someone who had read 4 books about Quantum physics written for a layman, and thinks "I know quantum physics" and thinks star trek is close to life.

A person with a university BA thinking himself as a specialist.

Or collects these words of wisdom and thinks himself wise.

Being good at trivial pursuit as being knowledgeable. Most people's idea about intelligence is in itself Fake.

When you really think about it, The original post when the guy nearly drove off the cliff, this is an interesting case. Most people rely on their eyesight predominantly, some say 90 %. meaning one's eyesight takes over other senses we have. In this case the guy decided what he is Seeing on the gadget is more reliable than what he is Seeing himself. This is something that comes out of "calculator-computer user background" Lots of people can't calculate in their head. In this one.. mmmm....the lane is getting narrower...I am sill on the road, but.. hold your course....the computer says you are right....ahhhhh
