"BMW Sauber have confirmed that they will pull out of Formula 1 at the end of what has been a disastrous season for the German car manufacturer.

"The BMW Group will not continue its Formula 1 campaign after the end of the 2009 season,'' BMW chairman Norbert Reithofer said. "Of course, this was a difficult decision for us, but it's a resolute step in view of our company's strategic realignment. Premium will be increasingly defined in terms of sustainability and environmental compatibility.''

The announcement makes the German car group the second major manufacturer to pull out of the sport following Honda's withdrawal in December.

BMW have had a poor campaign with drivers Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica giving the team just eight points from 10 races this season to leave them eighth in the nine-team constructors' championship."

I don't think his name will be tarnished with a non result. He'll just go out and enjoy, competitively of course, and probably get one anyway knowing Schumacher.

at least he has his girlfriend:

Flavio Briatore has been drummed out of Formula One in disgrace.

The Renault team boss - along with No 2 Pat Symonds - will leave with immediate effect after being accused of rigging the outcome of last season's Singapore Grand Prix.

Having let Briatore go, Renault will not dispute the charges made against them, a compromise which is likely to result in the team remaining in Formula One for the foreseeable future.

Quote:
Briatore currently has Alonso, Mark Webber, Heikki Kovalainen and Grosjean, as well as Piquet Jr, under his wing, whilst he jointly runs GP2.

Which means if these drivers do not dis-associate themselves from fatboy, they'll be barred from F1 too.

Alonso signing for Ferrari is no big surprise. But shame that the poison dwarf must bring his loavesome enterage to a great team.

Now that Ferrari have written off 2009, lets see how Alonso can fudge up 2010 for them.
