you know that Guinness aint supposed to be super cold. It's supposed to be cold as in Irish winter, but not so cold as in lager lout cold.

Lager lout cold = freezing, 10 below and the knobheads wear a tee shirt and jeans with their Ford Escorts idling to keep the street warm.

I like it cold!! Go and sit in your favourite seat, pull that bunnet over yer head and study the horses like every other old man that shouts on about the way ale SHOULD be drunk!! I like it chilled, the only non chilled drinks I like are tea and coffee. smile

After working in several pubs in the UK

The cellars were never air cond like in OZ.

So while in the cellar normally below ground. The air temp was cooler in relation to the public bar upstairs.

This allows for a colder beer in the main bar so the myth of english beer served at roomtemp is a load of bollocks.

Saying that I do prefer cold beer.

But warm Bourbon.

ambient room temperature in the UK is very different to that of Australia!! Lagers all go through a chilling system anyway on their way from cellar to tap.

At New Year my family would often have huge parties. There would be too much beer to fit in the fridge so my dad would just leave all the beer outside, nature kindly does the rest, chilling it WAAAY down!!

Just to be clear though - by warm I mean 13 degrees (English Pub Cellar Temp). If you have ever swam in 13 degree water it's not that warm. It's not like I'm microwaving it before I drink it.

" my, does Autumn not bring joy?"

Hard to answer that question in the affirmative.

Yes, autumn does not bring joy.

No, autumn does not bring joy.

It sure does though, cold, crisp and full of the promise of winter.

The reason that 13 degree water feels colder than air temp is because you are losing body heat quicker in the water and so you feel colder, the actual temps of both air and water are identical
