If you want ALMOST guaranteed awesome snow then you'd prob be better coming late Jan early Feb I would say. However last year Hakuba had a huge snowstorm around New Year's that dumped crazy amounts over the whole valley

What is the history of snowfall in Hakuba?

I've not seen a specific snow forecast, but it looks like the conditions are right for a big fall on Christmas Eve. 24 hours of snow here can open up the resorts top to bottom, but the offpiste usually takes a few falls to push down and cover the scrub.

This year, Niseko's got loads more snow so far. Thats what a colder climate does for you early season.

Mr Wiggles - I like your predictions of big falls on Christmas Eve!

Is that based on anything technical... or just a general wish for a nice white Christmas present?

Just deciding whether to get my hopes up or not wink
