igloo 3
Quote: The planned cash distribution will provide some 38,000 yen on average to each household. So will we get vouchers or something? Don't seem to be good at finding details.
thursday 1
dunno Igloo yes and no. Or maybe a bit of background would swing the voters.
2pints-mate 0
Definitely one way or the other, I'd say
RobBright 35
But doubtful to gaijin
2pints-mate 0
Was on the new just here some kind of handout to Japanese households. How will they implement that then?
RobBright 35
Last time was vouchers, but according to he news feeds, Aso said the coming cash benefit will be ‘‘more effective as the current economic situation is more serious.’’
bobby12 0
whats 4man gonna do? and how do i get mine...?

HelperElfMissy 42
Curious... With the Yen being so wonderfully(for those earning in Yen) bouyant at the moment....is there not a bit of insulation for the Japanese economy from the recessionary movements of the rest of the world? I am rather surprised that there is a stimulus package being implemented in Japan.
stemik 14
take a look at the tokyo stock market Mamabear...it been falling big style these last crazy weeks
HelperElfMissy 42
will do Stemik.. I take an interest, but have not been watching much in Japan other than the snow situation and the Yen against the AUD/USD/UK Pound. It never occured to me that with a raging Yen there would also be big stock market tumbles - but I suppose markets world over are crashing. Bit of a AH-HA moment! LOL
Greenroome 0
The high yen has effectively priced a lot of Japan's exports out of the market. You'll see a lot more new Hyundais and Daewoooooos driving around Perth than new Nissans and Toyotas. The Japanese government is trying to replace some of the lost overseas demand with some domestic demand.
bobby12 0
Also they talking about making the highways 1000yen for any distance on weekend and bank holidays. But I cant seem to find facts when all this will happen. Next week? Next Year? Never?
brit-gob 9
I can't work that one out either. Don't think they have details yet.

indosnm 0
if Permanent Rez you'd hope. Same thing in OZ with a govt handout to people that earn under 100k. $1k per kid on 12/08. Oz doesn't give to gaijin either.. only permoz.
thursday 1
this handout thing is happening everywhere. Macau got 5k with every ID card.
muikabochi 208
What is 5K? It was just on the news that everyone will get 15000 yen (I think thats what it said anyway). If it is taxpayers then gaijin jolly well should also get it.
muikabochi 208
Well, the ones paying tax!!
thursday 1
5k = 5000 Patacas ~ USD
thursday 1
reckon also it's very little to do withwho pays tax. It could be random distribution........... but let's see.
indosnm 0
Seems the cash payment will be for low income earners and single mother house holds will get that benefit Muika. Why should gaijin get it? Unless they are permanent I highly doubt it, and why should they!
bobby12 0
yeh i totally agree indo why should we get it? ...and while we are at it, why should we pay tax or follow the law?
RobBright 35
because I pay my taxes..
