Fukuokanigel 0
My family and I want to go to a ski resort this winter. My son is 2 and my and I snowboarders. We are looking to have a resort where they might have a babysitting service, a kids park for kiddy things to do and other family oriented things. Night skiing would also be a nice option too. We are open to your suggestions and all we ask is if it's close an airport (1-2 hours ok) by bus after we arrive. The problem I have is there are so many choices and it's like choosing a diamond in the rough.... We are based in Fukuoka which has no ski mountains around so flying is our best option. Thanks and I look foward to your replies! Nigel
-30deg 0
Have you considered Furano in Central Hokkaido. It is a popular destination for family ski trips. Furano is only 60 minutes from Asahikawa airport. Night skiing is available on both sides of the mountain. The majority of accomodation is within a close walk of the slopes (very important for children). There are also ski-in, ski-out accomodation options.
BillTheBinMan 0
Furano again, -30deg? Wow, you sure must like that place. There are so many places, though maybe not within 1-2 hours of an airport, major one anyway. Have a look at all the main places and go from there.
Ezorisu 0
If you got a Club Med membership, I hear the one at Sahoro is ace. Lots of activities for the young'uns.
HighlyTrainedNovaTeacher 2
Yes Sahoro is well known as being a place for families. Sounds all a bit "not Japan" though, from what I have heard.

Lots of activities for the young'uns. We are actually members of Clubmed and were leaning towards that kind of vacation. We went to Clubmed in Ishigaki Island in Okinawa and loved it! So maybe this will be an option since we got spoiled from the service of them. But we were wondering if there were other options similar to CM? At 20,000 yen a night per person I guess it's really not bad considering you get food, lift ticket and hotel all included... and oh yeah booze too. Would love to hear more suggestions from personal experiences with families! Nigel
thursday 1
Clubmed sounds good. But I usually associate that with 20s - 30s partying on the beach sort of thing. Been to the Bali one coupla times. Swoosh down the booze at lunch and dinner. After that, you have to pay for it.
stemik 14
direct flights from Fukuoka to Matsumoto Airport. Then an hour by bus/train to the Hakuba Valley ski fields. I think Tsugaike is a nice family resort and a lot of the properties are ski in - ski out (great for kids)
