Hello

The reason for the Classified section not appearing is given here:

http://www.snowjapanforums.com/ubbthread...html#Post284275

Your post is fine but the Classified section of our Forums not being open doesn't mean that this section is to be used as the "new Classifieds", if you see what I mean.

Mate, the takyubin for sending all that lot from different places would take up most of 5000 yen! You'll need to up your budget there. In your nearest town there might be some Gear Off or whatever they call them 2nd hand places.

When i first came here people donated stuff to me which was good as I didn't know what or where to buy.

Pretty tight budget - yes.

Realistic - probably no.

But you can't fault the man for trying!!

Josh - I have a pair of pants that have seen a few seasons that my boy has grown too big for ...possibly a 32, but more likely a 28-30. If they are a 32 I am happy to send them to you - unlikely any of the other boys will need/want them - they are a bit slim legged for them. Will check it out and let you know.

Better off they are helping you stay dry than gathering dust in the attic for the next 10 years!

e-bay matey, Or You might have more luck asking if anyone has any old gear you could "work" for. e.g shovelling snow etc. Also try hire shops, they may have some stuff left over around when Rocky IV came out.

As mama has just kindly offered, some people have gear they would rather give to someone who would appreciate it rather than sell it for next to nothing or sitting in a wardrobe for a decade.

$500 will be difficult but not impossible. It will just be harder and will take a lot of effort and time.

hey,

at least he has bindings?

For other readers interested in a good second hand store near some good mountains:

There was a place outside of Nagano city on R18 as you head north. About 2-3km past Nagano city Higashi wada Post Office. A big black building with Nandemoii written on it. It had pachinko, porn, and a very good snow section. Super cheap second hand store. My mate got a high end 2005 Burton for 3,000.

They usually had board and bindings package for around 7,000. They also have pants that go for around 3,000 and gloves and goggles for around the same. If you went low end for everything from here you may be able to get it done for around 15,000. 50,000 for good quality stuff. Boots will be by far the hardest thing to find.

Good luck

Chain sports stores in Japan used to have board/binding packages for as low as 9,800 yen. Boots, binding, board packages for 15,800 yen. I don't know if deals as cheap as this are still available.

Spopia Sports store in the local mall has sets for that price. (not incl boots) They have low end starter boards for 9800 yen.

Josh, try and find a Hard Off store. They are a second hand store that sells everything from furniture to clothes to sports goods. The one near me always has snow gear and mega cheap.

Friends are good. Often you might get things from them. When I first came here I was kitted out with pretty decent gear - other than pants - for the grand price of 0 yen.

Also the NON-BURNABLE garbage days, You can find some interesting finds if you are a scavenger. Other than that, A couple of cases of beer for that price to borrow a friends setup would work out for many people if your schedules dont conflict

Hey wattiewatson, surprised to see you on the fourms, Hows everything going back home. You coming back to Nagano for the winter season???
