As much as it starts a conversation, it can be annoying when someone asks a question then doesn't come back for the answer or say thanks. Been on the receiving end of that a few times in my job. We simply can't answer them all and often refer people to pages on the site and/or Forums. And yes, it can be annoying when you spend the time to reply to people trying to help out and then they do not get back to you even with a quick thanks.
