skidaisuki 0
Cool - we have Peter North AND Gloria Hunniford on the forum now. "Happo Oh-nay" is the pronuounciation, and yes, I was confused when I first saw the name. Especially because a neighbouring resort in Hakuba is called "47"... Are you coming over to Japan, Gloria? big-will 7
"Happo Oh-nay" More like "o" (as in octopus) and "ne" (as in so desu ne)!

skidaisuki 0
Thanks for that Ewok 2. I guess "Happoridge" might be even more confusing than Happo One... Let's Happo Ridge...!!!

skidaisuki 0
In Japanese it's really descriptive. It IS a long ridge, at least at the top. Hence the bottleneck effect and icy sections up top
Gloria Hunniford 0
Who is Peter North by the way?

skidaisuki 0
Well, I don't suggest you do a web search for him, Gloria. Let's just say he's a specialist actor. He sounds from his posts like an absolute gentleman and an enthusiastic skiier, I should also hasten to add. When are we likely to see you in Japan?

skidaisuki 0
I told you not to! The point was - famous people. Though I guess all the Aussies and Americans on these boards are not so well versed in UK radio legends, or their namesakes.
