6am wake up call, courtest of town office - every morning

Recommended Posts

Just what is the point of the 6am 'ding dong ding dong. ding dong ding dong' siren that goes off every single morning at 6am on our town office. I live 1.5km away and I can still hear the thing. I just cannot understand the reason for it. If people want to wake up at 6am, surely they can just set their alarms.

I have that in my small village in Nagano where I got my second house!

When I first moved there the alarm sounded at crack on 6am, I soon cured that problem, just simply switched of the intercom in my house, after that quite, can't here a thing. I just switch on sometimes during the day if there is an announcement, then straight back off again after.

And I live only a 3 minute walk from the village office.

Not sure if your house or area is the same?

I think it is an early morning call for the farmers, although actually most are up before 6am anyway.

hahaha....that would suck!!

Where I live they have a "going home song", 5pm in summer and 4.30pm in Winter, apparently its to tell schoolkids that they should be at home....didn't know Pavlov did research on people!!

No, unfortunately the technology does not exist in Japan.
Perhaps in the next couple of decades.

But still, better than someone running down the street shouting, like the days before loudspeakers.

I love it. When you are working you always know the time

6am wake up

10am break

12 pm lunch

3pm break

6pm going home

Small towns wont change this as the system is also used for public awareness announcements.

Yes this is exactly the same as the village I am in in Nagano.
I think it is good as it's a good reminder when to stop for lunch, breaks, etc.
Weekend the 6am wake up call sucks if you want to lay in, but where my house is located, as long as I have the tannoy switched off in my house weekends I can't here the announcements or anything anyway.

This reminds me of my working days back in the UK, when the companies sound a bell at 10am and 3pm for tea breaks. Everyone looked forward to the breaks.

It's totally annoying and totally unnecessary.

The one near me sounds like some crappy midi file and on a Sunday morning it is most most unwelcome. Actually, on any morning I don't want to hear it.

I also would like to know the reason for it.

supposed to wake up super early but couldnt.

my mobile battery had died during the night so sadly no snooze alarm clock.

woke up at 8 and drove to my work like a mad man, (mad ewok, whatever it was.)

and then this song came from the car radio,

"wake me up before u go go, somethin somethin somethin yo yo"...

(@_@;)..Zzz..

6 am wake up call might have been handy for me this mornin.
