Oh yes. Until last summer Yamagata had the highest temperature ever recorded in Japan, a record that stood for about 80 years.

 

The killer weather is a wet south easterly, when we get a foehn. Life in the bonshi is miserable then. This summer, it has mostly been northerlies or westerlies. Still hot and humid, but not the stinkers people get in Kanto and Kansai.
