systemsguy 0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5waSw2mMfY It might look like it's only strolling down the mountain, but this slow-moving avalanche is a powerful torrent of snow and ice. At first, the rolling clouds look just like any other vision of an avalanche — until about 10 seconds in when it becomes clear the white storm has barely moved. When the snail-paced blizzard cascades into a crack on the mountainside its awesome power is revealed. The wall of ice forms together and ploughs along a frozen river, knocking down trees with listless ease. Nothing is able to stop the march of ice as it invades the small mountain village. griller 9
The mother of a disabled girl has attacked a local council after it responded to her two-year campaign for improved wheelchair access to her house by building a 10-level winding wheelchair ramp covering most of her garden. Clare Lally, 33, spent two years campaigning for improved access for her wheelchair-bound Katie, seven, after the council gave them a home at the top of three flights of stairs. But she was shocked at the solution, a £40,000 60-metre steel ramp which winds from the front door to the pavement. Lally said that it was easier to transport her daughter but the scale of the construction was an eyesore. "There must have been a better solution. The council could have gone about the whole project in a more sensible way," she said. "The council said this was the only option to fit something into the garden because of building regulations. It is a lot easier but I don't believe that the council weren't able to do something else. We weren't fighting for a massive steel ramp - we just wanted to improve Katie's quality of life." griller 9
The family's problems have been further compounded by youths now using it as a skateboard run. Council officials have refused to install a gate, citing health and safety concerns. !!

pie-eater 207
Love photos like that. But on an even much scarier note Scientists and legal experts have raised concerns that an ambitious experiment using a super-charged ion collider could accidentally destroy planet Earth. One of the world’s most powerful particle accelerators, which is capable of generating particles hotter than four trillion degrees Celsius, has come under the spotlight after experts have warned that micro black holes and strange matter could be generated. The Brookhaven National Laboratory’s Realistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) accelerates nuclei to the speed of light, before smashing them together in a bid to create quark-gluon plasma, which is an incredibly hot substance thought to have occurred just after the Big Bang. kokodoko 67
Selena plots revenge after learning Biebs 'cheated' on her with Miley. Weird story of the day award goes to…a report which claims Selena Gomez is plotting her revenge against Miley Cyrus. Why? Well, Selena, 21, believes ex Justin Bieber cheated on her with the 'Wrecking Ball' singer. And she’s even pulling in pals Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato to help. Yep, we’re looking at some real life Mean Girls. Well, that’s if it’s true, which we doubt very much as there’s zero evidence. “Both Taylor and Demi know how heartbroken Selena has been and they hate what Miley did to her,” a source told Life&Style. “All four girls used to be friendly, but when Selena heard Miley started making moves on Justin, it went downhill.” The insider goes on to say that Miley, 21, is aware that her former friends are “trash talking” her and have been avoiding them at all costs. The source added: “She checks in with club owners and event planners to make sure those girls won’t be around.”
