Nepal has continued to recognise the decades-old measurement of 29,028 feet (8,848 metres). However, there have been other claims recently by China and western climbers.

Land Reforms Ministry spokesman Gopal Giri said that the government decided last week during its annual budget speech to take the new measurement.

The plans are being put in place this week and the work will entail placing a ruler on the peak that will measure the height using a long piece of string, he said.

Here's a good one

Postman stashed more than 31,000 undelivered parcels and letters at his home - because he was too drunk to deliver them

A drunkard postman neglected his rounds and hid 31,000 undelivered parcels and letters at his home because he was regularly too trollied to deliver them.

Steve Tasker, 43, who would often have a few pints before his usual 6am start, hoarded the 'staggering' collection for three and a half years and kept almost 16,000 mail items in or behind his garden shed, Burnley Crown Court was told.

Breaking news

Quote:
Mila Kunis has revealed she used a body double during her sex scenes in Friends With Benefits.

The 27-year-old was prepared to show 'side-boob' in the romantic comedy with Justin Timberlake, but stopped short of revealing her naked behind.

All very interesting.

but at USD500Mill PER LAUNCH, they were getting a bit hard to justify in the current economic climate in US.

Mind you, the next generation will be a tiny bit expensive to operate.

British holidaymakers have been warned to be on their guard against a thick blanket of slimy 'killer seaweed' suffocating the beaches of northern France.
The alert comes after the carcasses of 31 wild boars were found on one beach on the Brittany coast.
All are thought to have been killed by toxic gas – as dangerous as cyanide – released by the seaweed as it rots.

Is Fukushima behind this outrage?
