cockzilla 0
What you reckon, in terms of ski-jo and snow? I have the chance to spend a month in one of the two this winter and thinking it through.
klingon 10
I suppose it would depend on where abouts in each. Both sound good to me.
soubriquet 0
Iwate.
Tubby Beaver 209
what are the big resorts in Akita?
charlotte 0
Tazawako is the only one I have really heard of, but it looks lovely.
Yuki's Passion 1
stop feeding the troll - but if it must be said, then my vote goes for Hiroshima over either.
cockzilla 0
Thanks (re: the few proper answers). Why do you say Iwate, soubriquet? You know both areas well? The 2 options will be actually be about 15km from Tazawako and in Iwate not too far from Morioka to the east. I'm leaning towards the inaka option even if it looks like there may be less skijo around there. I have had enough of cities.
Shizukoo Ishi 0
If that were my choice I would go with Akita. Lovely area it is. I'm not that far off both regions.
jared 0
Given that you would be living right next to Tazawako if you go to Akita, that would win from a convenience point of view. In Iwate you would have alot more choice of places to go but if you are east of Morioka they will all be a bit more that 15 minutes away. Akita girls are the most attractive in the country if that makes any difference (may not be true, its just what I heard). Also, its not that much of a drive if you do live in Tazawako and want to hit some places in Iwate, its just over the hill (45mins? from memory)

Iwate has more and bigger, but as Captain Stag wrote, from Tazawako, no-where is all that far.
IwateKen 0
I'd say you were good in both. Nice area!
2pints-mate 0
Not sure if we're going to be going up that high, but will tell you if we do!
great 0
I love that area. Been up there a fair few times as my g/f is from Akita. Very nice part of Japan and quite different from my Tokyo home. Going up there really makes me want to get out of the Tokyo crowds.
snowboarding-sally 0
I've just come back from Akita. No snow of course but a lovely area. Cooler than where I am, still hot though. Very remote places we were and very friendly people encountered. Nice break.
