nzlegend 1
kind of on topic....Big news in Aus today (even made the first story on BBC) - a whole bunch of dudes got busted down loading kiddie porn. ......, 70 arrests have been made across Australia. A further 20 people have been issued with summonses to appear in court where they will be charged with possessing child exploitation material. More arrests are expected in coming weeks and months. Dubbed Operation Centurion, the investigation was triggered after a hacker infiltrated a respectable European website and inserted 99 degrading and explicit images of young girls from eastern Europe, the US and Paraguay. The site - which cannot be named for legal reasons - was besieged by an incredible 12 million hits in just 76 hours after word got around online pedophile networks that the images were available and the website's address was circulated. Almost 150,000 different computer users from 170 countries accessed the otherwise obscure website, including Australians using 2883 computer IP addresses. Of those, 1513 had downloaded one or more images in the 76-hour period. Police were able to match IP addresses to locations. Some were public computers in places such as libraries, some were duplicates, but many could be traced to homes. Proxies you dumbasses! why would you induge so riskily in something so outrageously wrong and risk everything?? mind boggling stupidity to go along with their sick perversion... policemen, school teachers, kids sport team coaches and the worst of all was one fat slob of teacher in Queensland who superimposed photos of students on to existing images of child abuse, and then placed his own image on the face of the perpertrator of the acts. Damn! that is just pure evil right there, sick bastard is going to get his very well aquainted with the broom handle in prison.......
HelperElfMissy 42
It is sick sick sick. And I am glad that the majority were DUMB enough not to use proxies - at that way they are caught. Unfortunately it is the ones who are deceptive enough to use proxies and library computers etc that are the worst offenders - they are the pathological personality that works the system, and does the most damage over the longest time. JA2340 16
1500, including a couple of teachers, a few cops ... that leaves 1496 to identify by occupation. Serious concerns about the stuff being downloaded, and that the people involved are in charge of our kids (well, someone else's kids as mine are all growed up, thank god!) but there is a media obsession with the behaviour of teachers and coppers, yet the rest of the society are identified by name (if at all). Seems unfair to me, and yes, I am/was a teacher, so vested interest. But, the identification of a teacher as such paints us ALL with the same brush. Unfair!
HelperElfMissy 42
I think the concern is that they are in a 'Working with Children' Profession and have obviously passed the test....but how? I had to get a WWC clearance because some of my work means I need to go into schools as a contractor, or maybe childrens hospital etc... It was an easy process. But you would hope that people like these sicko's would get identified by the process....obviously not.
JA2340 16
So did I, even though I am in the administrative office. Problem is that there has to be ONE (at least) previous conviction for a sex related crime before the alarms start going off. I am more concerned that the people who still have access to children (even though not directly in the 'caring for children" professions) still have nkids of their own, go play with kids of their friends and relations, etc. Note that the recent news accounts talk about an accountant, among others. happyhappy 0
Let us know when you have more, sounds encouraging. I have heard a few stories in my neighbourhood of someone being packed off to another area when something like this happens (like this meaning distasteful, something they cant prove etc). I wonder if that happened here.
nzlegend 1
are you sure he wasnt 38 years old and in Ibaraki? Quote: Teacher, 38, arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting 11-year-old girl in Ibaraki Tuesday 24th June, 09:56 AM JST IBARAKI — A 38-year-old school teacher was arrested on Monday for allegedly sexually assaulting a 11-year-old schoolgirl in Kamisu City, Ibaraki Prefecture. Hidekazu Kojima, 38, was arrested for allegedly assaulting the girl at a hotel in February, 2007, after taking her out for a drive. In May, the girl told a friend who reported the case to police. According to police, Kojima and the girl became acquainted with each other through a mutual friend. The local education board held a press conference Monday to apologize for Kojima’s behavior. They said that the school principal had heard rumors about the incident at the time and had asked the teacher about it. But Kojima denied the allegations. After police raided the school on Monday, Kojima and his father called the school admitting the allegation and apologized to the girl.

Ezorisu 0
This kind of horrible stuff is unfortunately so common in the news nowadays. Seems like at least one per week. Oh, and not only in Japan! This is a worldwide problem.
aomorigum 0
Heard of something similar again in our region. In fact, the schools are having a meeting with parents and town council to discuss the issue next week.
