the snowboarding vicar 1
This evening is going to be a home-made vegetable lasagne and a nice bottle of wine. I never really get this Japanese belief that foreigners have bread with every meal. I never do.

RobBright 35
Those van camp beans are yuck - bought an 8 back last year as I thought - hey beans - can't screw those up. Had one can and gave the rest away. But, went to Fiji and picked up some Aussie/NZ beas, same design as Heinz, Wattie's I think they were called, and tasted exactly the same as the UK beans. And yes everything in the UK is miles better then anywhere else - well apart from regional unprocessed food that is
klingon 10
A UK friend of mine visited over the weekend. On that day in our local newspaper there was an article about UK eating habits. It said that at 3pm everyone stops work to have afternoon tea with scones, followed by sandwiches. He was asked about it and laughed, she insisted that everyone did this and did the old ignored what he was saying because she couldn't accept his version over the newspaper. It was quite funny actually, sad at the same time.

klingon 10
Home made pizza. Excellent, even if I say so myself. There was a mountain of ham, salami & peppers on there with some cheese that cheeseman would be proud of!

RobBright 35
A cumberland Quote: Cumberland Sausages are a type of traditional sausage that originated in the ancient county of Cumberland, England. They are usually very long (up to 50cm), and sold rolled in a flat circular coil. Sometimes they are made shorter, like ordinary British sausages and sometimes they are served in breadcrumbs, like a minced beef crispbake but with sausage (Cumberland) in it instead. The meat is pork and seasonings are prepared from a variety of spices and herbs, though the flavour palate is commonly dominated by pepper, both black and white, in contrast to the more herb-dominated flavours of sausage varieties such as those from Lincolnshire. There are traditionally no colouring or preservatives added. The crucial thing is that the meat should be chopped, not minced; consequentially the texture is relatively chunky. HelperElfMissy 42
South Africans have a similar type of sausage you can buy here in some supermarkets.... but I have never seen a cumberland sausage. We had 5 spice meatballs in plum sauce with steamed rice and greens (broccolini and baby pak choy) last night. Clean plates - kids loved it. WINNER!, will be making that again! Mix 600g lean beef mince with the onion mix, and roll into dessertspoonful sized meat balls. Cook in frypan. Easy - tasty - kid friendly. Tonight we had Chicken Laksa, but it was a bit spicy for the kids tastes. Hee hee - they would swap the Laksa for the Roast Beef any day!
