rachael 0
Rental at resorts always seems really expensive. Quite often good new gear though, at the places I've seen. Then you've got the roadside 1500 yen deals that seem much cheaper. But are those roadside deals giving you 10 year old gear or what? Anyone ever use them? (I have a friend visiting this winter and just pondering in advance)
big-will 7
Depends rachal. I've seen some really dismal roadside places, but also some good ones. I've also seem some pretty prehistoric skis for rent at some resorts as well, never mind the roadside dudes.

HoTRoD 2
Definitely case by case, I've seen both good and bad,.
NoFakie 45
If you don't need to go a place that has large gear, a place on the hill will probably let you change boots during the day if they don't fit properly.
shortcake 0
please look around at differing places. Sometimes it is good, sometimes old and not good.
