Welcome to the new "Trip Reports" section of the Forums, the place to post your snow trip reports.

The same general guidelines for the Forums in general apply here. In case you haven't read them or want to take another look here they are:

http://www.snowjapanforums.com/ubbthreads.php/ubb/postlist/Board/12/page/1

(The only thing we would like to add is that we do of course realise some people will have their own blogs elsewhere on the web, but please remember that the Trip Reports forums are for reports posted on here, not to post links to reports elsewhere).

You can post photos on SJ here:

http://www.snowjapan.com/e/insider/photo_gallery_image_uploader.php

You can also post videos to our new video site here:

http://www.snowjapan.tv/upload.php

Once you have uploaded those photos and videos, you can then easily embedded them into your trip reports on these forums.

If you need any help at all, please just email us at editor@snowjapan.com and we'll be happy to help.

Remember you can also post Resort Reviews and keep your own online Journals:

Resort Reviews:

http://www.snowjapan.com/e/voice/review.php

Journals:

http://www.snowjapan.com/e/insider/journal.php

Looking forward to hearing about your trips.

Thank you.

OK a bit of a change. Due to public demand we have decided to make this section of the Forums as a "Trip Report Archive".

After a few weeks, Trip Reports posted in the main Snow Talk forum area will be moved over into this area of the Forums.

So, please post your reports initially in the Snow Talk section of the Forums, here:

http://www.snowjapanforums.com/ubbthreads.php/ubb/postlist/Board/1/page/1

Thanks

Confusing to put it here. I think it's better where you had it at first directly under snow talk, with equal status to general snow talk and avalanche & BC. It creates balance with the off topic travel section too.

Hi SJ,

Toque had some very nice trip reports from O/S.

I had actually put a lot of time in making one from France as well which I cannot find anymore (I'll look again).

Not sure if this has been addressed before, have you guys ever thought about putting together an O/S snow trip reports? Are you afraid it would get too cluttered?

I did notice these o/s reports/pics were ranking pretty high usually in Google and the likes, (not saying attracting hits just for the sake of it should be a finality in itself) so was wondering whether it would make sense.

I have just changed the default view of the main forums from "from the last year" to "all threads". This might make a difference when you search through things and you might now be able to find them. It might also slow the forums down so we'll keep an eye on this and if it proves to be a problem we might have to change that back.

If you take another look and still can't find it please let us know (perhaps by PM or mail) and we'll try to hunt it out for you. Like I said though I am 100% sure that your report will not have been deleted.

You can also manually change the default forums view by the way by using the "Display Options" drop down menus at the bottom of the main Forums page. It is (or was until I changed this) 12 months by default.

Let us think about overseas trip reports. What do people think? Mixing them up with the Japanese TRs?

We get shouts and rotten tomatoes thrown at us when we dare open a new section to the forums so would like to think it through. ;\)

In the meantime overseas trip reprts are of course always very welcome in the General Snow Talk main forum.

Thanks for the comments.

OK thanks. If you still can't find it do let us know and we'll see what we can do (a few details would help!)

You should also be able to find it if you look at the "My Forum Posts" in "My Stuff" section.

I think it would be nice to mix everything in together in this forum, but that's just one person's opinion. Here are some of Toque's TRs, they are great - never realised there was so much good content waiting to be uncovered.

I just finished reading them all. Fantastic experience - one that my lacklustre writing skills couldn't do justice to. Much as I intend to make the effort to emulate some of the experiences outlined in the TRs, I can only recommend that you follow in my footsteps and get reading!

And I never realized there were so many TRs that I made. Some people bash the JET program but without it I never would have shared all these experiences.

Yes I do thank you.

do you want some snowboarding hats?

No, I don't, thank you.

This folks is a fine example of

a) why we need to approve new members before they post (although even then it didn't help much here did it?)

B) why we don't allow PMs from the off;

c) some of the junk that we have to deal with on an almost daily basis;

d) a taste of what the Forums might be like if we let anyone post anything.

Roger_R here signed up and was approved a short while ago and then posted the above 2 sentences linked up to his spam site. He more likely than not had no intention of posting anything else on the Forums. Looking at the pages that he viewed backs this up - he arrived, posted his spam and then left. He probably won't even know that this has been edited, as he will more than likely be off to annoy some other forums to post his junk.

I thought I would just leave it here as an example. (Without the junk links of course).

Very annoying.

(Thanks to the few people who immediately let us know about it, appreciate your support).
