gorkhali 0
I hope we get tons of snow today...going off to Kagura in Yuzawa tomorrow.
JonnyPanic 0
I was planning to, but have changed to later in the week. Its a long way for me to get there, so we need to be sure of the snow.
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan#Andrew 6 Posted December 20, 2003 SnowJapan Admin Share Posted December 20, 2003 Since we posted the report on the Yuzawa Now page this morning, it has started snowing here and is coming down nicely at the moment. We'll be updating the page later on today with the latest....
gorkhali 0
Thanks for the update!!! I am really looking forward to starting off the season with some good snow tomorrow.
SnowJapan.Com#2 0
Hope so - it has been snowing all day today since that last post but not much sticking to the ground at town level as yet Should be more up at Kagura though. Further update on the Yuzawa Now page later this afternoon.....
fukdane 2
Unless we get a big big dump on tonight, nothing impressive for the weekend over here.
damian 0
today is one of the few times I have seen yellow on the snow data map forecast for the next 3 days. Not sure if the yellow covers the yuzawa area - dont think so. It looks more like hakuba and a little south.
SnowJapan.Com#3 0
Yellow is good. Yuzawa is in the cyan/purple area.
Siren 0
Apologies for being stupid. Where do I see the yellow/purple thingy?

damian 0
I live by these maps, usually reasonably accurate I found as well. Siren: http://www.snowjapan.com/e/daily/snowmap.html click on "reports" in the main page vertical menu bar on the left and it is in there. There once was a handy link to the mao page at the top of the forum (at least I think there was). It appears to have been crowded out by other good stuff.

gorkhali 0
The latest report says to expect between 30-60 cm of snow tonight at Kagura!!! I hope that is true because already got my Shinkansen tickets at 7:00 AM from Tokyo!
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan#Andrew 6 Posted December 20, 2003 SnowJapan Admin Share Posted December 20, 2003 We hope the forecast is right as well, Gorkhali Bhai. It's coming down nicely at the moment and has started to stick so hopefully it will continue as the forecast is saying. Hope you can have a good day up there.

gorkhali 0
Just got back from Kagura....boy what a day!!! I had prayed to the snow gods for good snow this weekend but I guess I prayed too hard? It was snowing the entire day and it was windy and had blizzard like conditions. They had to close the upper gondola around 2 pm because it was so windy. Anyway, the snow was good but it was too cold and too windy to enjoy it. If it is sunny tomorrow or on Wednesday the snow conditions should be fantastic.
sanjo 2
Good to hear theres tons of snow anyway, I'll be down there there on Tuesday

SerreChe 2
Went to Kagura today. Lots of snow, lots of wind and.....lots of people. Top lift was on and off because of the wind. That created a bottleneck at the bottom of the lift. Some people actually started hiking back up the hill instead of queuing to make it to the other side. For a first trip of the season I enjoyed the lower slopes the most: less windy and less people. There always some powder to be found on the fringes. All in all good day but be warned of the crowds for the holiday season. Onsen + power nap on tatami at the end of the day was pure bliss...
thelovelyjen 0
I went to Iwappara. It wasn't all completely open, but most was and we had a really good time. The snow was wonderful, the weather really nice yesterday. Great place for groupd of people with beginners.
Siren 0
Went on Sunday and it was just perfect for a first day of the season! Sunny 80% of the day and more than enough powder.
