Anyone else seen this story? I hear that he has been allowed to stay with his 'caring parents'. 4 times the weight of a healthy child.

Disgusting.

Care Threat For Obese Child

A severely obese eight-year-old boy faces being taken into care because of his size.

Connor McCreaddie tips the scales at 14st - four times the weight of a healthy child of his age.

His mother Nicola McKeown, 35, acknowledges his problems but is desperate not to see him taken into care.

Today, she will meet specialists from North Tyneside Council to discuss what steps should be taken before Connor develops health problems.

Miss McKeown said: "If Connor gets taken into care that is the worst scenario there could be.

"Hopefully, we will be able to come up with a good plan and he might just be put on the at-risk register. That wouldn't be so bad because there would be help at the end of it."

The schoolboy, from Wallsend, North Tyneside, featured on Tonight with Trevor McDonald exploring childhood obesity.

Film crews from the show followed the youngster's day-to-day life for a month.

Connor has difficulty dressing and washing himself, misses school regularly because of poor health and is a target for bullies.

"People pick on us because of my weight. They call us fat. It makes us feel sick of the nutters always shouting at us," he said.

i saw it on tv, and it's totally his parents fault. his mum was feeding the kid fried ham, eggs and chips for dinner. she said something like "he doesn't eat vegetables". freaking hell woman, that's a form of child abuse.

prince charles came out the other day and said that fast food such as mcdonalds should be banned. has the world gone mad? why can't people look after themselves and accept responsibility these days?

australia is going down the same sad obese path.

it really is beyond me why people can't understand that a basic balanced diet and a moderate amount of exercise is the key to a healthy lifestyle. the world seems obsessed with diet trends and obesity killing wonder drugs, or looking for some sort of gene that causes fatness....

i eat whatever i feel like, but generally i'm quite conscious of what i eat and i pretty much eat fresh food (much like many other, fit and active people on here i'm sure).

I think he deserves every sympathy. He's 8 years old! What does the future hold for him - staying with a mother who seems incapable of taking care of and educating him or being put into care where he'll risk being shipped from home to home, more bullying & possibly even sexual abuse.

Wallsend is where Alan Shearer is from, in case anyone is interested. Peter Beardsley too.

I think some Geordies were kind of embarrassed about this program, but a couple of days later an even heavier girl was found somewhere else.

I didn't see the program, but on it his sister, who isn't fat, apparently blames his mother for giving in too easily.

On morning tv just now there has been an interview with a 42 stone mother of 4. She can't get out of bed she is so huge. She looks like that Konishiki * 2. Absolutely disgusting. Of course, the fact that she was in that state was "somebody elses fault" and had nothing to do with the fact that she eats fryups for breakfast.

It reminded me of one of those Creature Comfort shorts where the animals talk.

305kg!? And how heavy was Konishiki? That is just disgusting. At what point do people like that suddenly notice they are hugely overweight? Surely there are signs.... like being a bit overweight, then a bit more, and a big more. confused.gif

I think sumo wrestlers must have hard time to lose their weight after they retire.

Because I know how hard it is to lose any!

672lbs or 305 kgs by my calculations. That's more than the weight limit for most Japanese elevators!
I don't like it when an elevator gives me a warning when I get in. But I also think this happens a lot to chubby person like me.
