green 0
Can someone tell me the difference between straight poles and bent-looking ones? Are the non-straight ones for racing? Thanks.
Fattwins 0
for the most part bent poles are for racing but its not always the case.
guzzlers-baps 0
Why do they use the bent ones? Is it to do with not getting in the way, or aerodynamics or something...?
Fattwins 0
a bit of both and the basket is smaller or more aerodynamic. but in the end they are poles. I use adjustable poles myself.
snobee 0
My poles are bent coz I can't afford new ones. I don't think I'm going faster???
marnix 0
Currently I ski with bent GS poles, as I got these for free when I broke my last old one's, but somehow I feel better when I have regular straight one's.
grungy-gonads 54
I have another questions about poles. Are they that important? What I mean is do you need really good expensive ones (ARE there expensive ones?) or will any old poles do?
Siem Reeves 0
there are definately expensive ones... all depends on brand, what they're made of etc... carbon fibre ones tend to be pricey... personally, i don't think it makes too much difference - mine are some sort of composite so they are the skinnier type (as opposed to the chunkier aluminium ones) but they were a pressie... captain stag has carbon ones, they were half price on sale ;-)
