Hokkaidough 4
I was looking at some notebook computers in the shop last night and noticed that lots of them now seem to have these incredibly shiny screens. Whats the name of that kind of screen, anyone? Thanks.
keba 0
Sony's is "Clear Bright Screen". Not sure what the advantage is, but they are buggers to keep clean, fingerprints stay on real good...
Hokkaidough 4
Hmm, so there's no one word to describe them then, different by maker?
keba 0
I think each manufacturer has their own proprietary name, but I'll bet they're all basically the same idea. I prefer the old screens, having used both, but Vaio only comes with shiny screen...
Hokkaidough 4
Thanks keba. I actually really like the look of them in the shops but wondering if all that shininess might get to be too much every day all the time!!
keba 0
Sorry, my mistake, Sony has "Clear Bright LCD"... close enough, I suppose.
dale#1 1
I really like them. Before I got mine I had a very dull and unevenly lighted Dell. My current one is a big improvement.
veronica 2
Mine is really shiny. At first I wasn't keen as where I use my computer there was a light coming in and there was a lot of reflection. Changed position now and I really like it. Very bright.
keba 0
You get used to it Hokkaidough... at work I use a Dell with the old dull screen, and at home a Vaio... I also find the Bright Screen reflects a lot of light, and if you are on the move, that can be a difficult thing to control.
viv&kev 0
We have one of those screens, it's really good. It does pick up marks easily so not go to touch it!
