5,400rpm or 7,200rpm

 

Obviously the 7,200 one is faster (and more expensive), but in reality when using a computer are we talking about a really noticeable difference between the two?

There will be a much, much bigger difference if you don't have as much memory as the hard disk will used as 'virtual' memory.

 

Overall, if you multitask a lot, you'll definitely notice it and the 7,200 would be better to go with.

Thanks. Actually it's for a new one I'm thinking of getting which will have a lot of memory and other fairly high specs. I suppose if I am getting other good specs I might as well spend a bit more to get a hdd that lives up to the rest of it \:\)
