yeah very insulting! but people often misuse this term and apply it to anyone that might be the slightest bit strict in enforcing policy they do not agree with. we should be more careful with this term.

I think people that don’t really know what Nazism stood for tend to misuse the term. It is the same thing everywhere, when someone is not able to make intelligent arguments starts saying any stupid thing that comes in mind.

Although I like to avoid generalizations, obviously using the term “Nazism” to express oppression is a misuse of the term. A dictatorship is an oppressive regime for example, but it doesn’t have to be a Nazistic regime also.

Nazi's suck. A pretty generalized, simplistic way of puting it but untrue? Alpha Blondy says Aparthied is Nazism. Misuse, generalizations... would the smart guys go ahead and simplify this with an exact definition rather than just critizising everbody else that tries?

i don't think anyone here disagrees with you on the sucking issue, i just think it is important we don't group ski patrol that don't like us enjoying pow pow , with the same people that support the tennants of national socialism. wouldn't you agree?

for some quick and easy reading on the issue you can look here first then you might want to look here to read up on modern movements. now, to answer your question about the dismissal of base and claimless "nazi" labeling you might want to read about Godwin here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_Law

nazi when used in the right company can mean a severe or incredibly strict person, but its not a slang you would bandy around willy nilly as Daver points out.

health nazi', 'book nazi', 'cleaning nazi', 'Seinfeld had the 'soup nazi', Japan has 'bike nazis' - the ruthless dudes who impound bikes
