thursday 1
Yeah, a record $1 million-a-week five-year deal. Just don't let him open his mouth, or at least have a voice over ready when he does.
BagOfCrisps 24
I suppose he is well past the point of sitting down and thinking "how on earth did I get to be earning this ludicrous amount of money". Are there any other players in the LA Mars Troopers team with names? Do they play on full sized pitches? (Bet they don't use jumpers for goalposts).
soubriquet 0
There's a very caustic opinion piece in the Torygraph. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/arts/main.jht.../ftbecks112.xml
2pints-mate 0
Quote: last-ditch attempt to maintain their mega-celebrity status Yes, this new deal does sound like a desperate attempt to maintain basic living standards.
rach 1
Quote: Sounds like he wants to make the club the Man Utd of USA Something that in the next couple of hundred years is totally impossible. He loved Manchester United and they got rid of him. It sounds like he still loves Manchester United. Which is totally understandable, of course. But they would not be having him back. thursday 1
Man U, that's another team I hate now.
scouser 4
News of the world yesterday "DAVID BECKHAM went through such agony over his decision to move to Los Angeles that he wept tears of despair, the News of the World can reveal." Tears of despair?!? I see he will be left out of the team as well in Madrid. Can he walk away from it or go somewhere in the meantime anyone know? Must have been a hard and desperate choice to make for him. Poor man.
thursday 1
those numbers sure brings tears to my eyes.
rach 1
The news of the world always has some wonderful exclusives. What kind of person actually spends their money on that? Anyway back to the Premiership where we are still 6 points ahead.

grungy-gonads 54
Classic quote. I bet he knew as well straight off. (Heck, even lots of footie fans are confused with off-side these days). Will Beckham ever just bugger off so we never hear his name again? (Please).
big-will 7
What about Jose to Real Madrid? Sounds plausible, they are in a bit of a mess. Big enough for Joses head.... the rumours are gatherhing pace.
scouser 4
Sounds plausible. I'm afraid we will probably be stuck with Jose and Becks stories for the next few months.
bobby12 0
Probably. Jose looked miserable after the 4-0 win the other night, it'd be interesting if he were to leave. I wonder if he'd take Terry and Robben with him. I wonder how Chelsea would fare without him. You have to say it takes more than money to make a team successful.
giggsy 0
Crunch time this weekend perhaps? http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8652_1848420,00.html
bobby12 0
Gonna be a great weekend of footy. Time for our revenge against chelsea. I reckon losing those two against arsenal the other week will do our season good - we cant lose at home again surely, and we can concentrate on winning the league or taking 2nd place this year. scouser 4
Yes good lineup this weekend: >> Liverpool (COME ONNNNNNN!) vs Chelsea >> Arsenal vs Man U I wish I were back in Liverpool this weekend.
2pints-mate 0
It will definitely be an important weekend, could be "season defining" as they say. I predict both Chelsea and United to win though so things will stay the same
2pints-mate 0
I will pray (to ANYONE) that this does not happen. Please, no. >>>>>>>>> Eriksson holds out for Chelsea job Former England manager stalls over Marseille post; Champions League club is Swede's top priority Matt Scott Thursday January 18, 2007 The Guardian Sven-Goran Eriksson is turning down jobs in the hope of succeeding Jose Mourinho as Chelsea's manager in the close season. The former England manager believes the current intrigue at Stamford Bridge may lead to a vacancy and he has cleared his diary in case a call comes from the Premiership champions
big-will 7
You would be honoured! This weekend does look good, I might tune in myself. Lets hope they live up to the billing.
rach 1
Can't wait. I just wish both games were on Saturday, one after the other. Oh well. Come on United!! And come on Liverpool (this week)
scouser 4
I'm feeling good about tonight. If we beat them today we'll be just 5 points behind. 2nd place a possibility. It would be so good if Chelsea could only managed 3rd or even 4th (not only because it would mean us probably being 2nd )
BagOfCrisps 24
Well you gave Chelsea a good beating there. They were rubbish. What's up there? Tonight is the big game
bobby12 0
YEEEEEEES 2-0 - in your loin mourinho!!! And we could have won 4 or 5-0 too. Not sure who I want to win tonight...I guess a draw would be best.
soubriquet 0
Goody. Nice one Liverpool. I'd like to see Arsenal win tonight, but I'll hate myself if that hands the championship to Chelsea.
