Mantas 3
Yeah, the SJ community seems to be doing its part to fight the declining birth rate in Japan! I didn't realise Japan has a declining birth rate. So has Australia.
bushpig 0
Manats, lifted this from a Forum mailing list I am on: Quote: America has a fertility rate variously given as 2.1 or 2.2. Japan's is around 1.25. In big Japanese cities, such as Tokyo and Osaka, it is closer to 0.9, as it is in many large Chinese cities, such as Hong Kong (0.9) Macau (1.02) and Singapore (1.06) . Korea's fertility rate is now below 1.2 also. The big surprise may be China, with a fertility rate of 1.7. Chinese fertility rates also look like they are in for a slow down. Europe as a whole is running a fertility rate of 1.47, which the big losers of Europe, Spain and Italy have fertility rates on the order of Japan--around 1.25.
Mantas 3
Amazing. So who's having all the babies then? Our goverment now offers $5000. Aus to anyone who has a baby. China offers finacial incentives to have less children.
bushpig 0
That policy in China has worked too well, but they needed it to.

jgraves 0
The ward we live in pays 80% of childrens' medical bills through the start of Junior High as an incentive for its residents to have babies. Didn't influence our decision, but it sure will be nice if we decide not to move. I'm dying to move back to Yokohama, though. The wife and I Just got back from our 5 mo ultrasound. Still a little too small to tell what sex. But the little bugger was picking his/her nose half the time we were looking. Ah yes, dad's blood flow strong in those little veins. MJ, What is raspberry leaf tea supposed to do?
Davo 1
No.2 girl was born just after lunch today & I was sitting chatting with her Mum until 11:00. All went swimmingly and she's a spitting image of her sister when she was born. Mum is fine and was in no pain this afternoon, though that will definately change tomorrow. I am relieved, feeling great and enjoying some quality time with No.1 girl. Life is good.

Anyway, did you go through with it and did she keep her end of the bargain?
