griller 9
Does anyone know why hayashi rice is called hayashi rice?
gamera 0
Just tried google and found an interesting description at wikipedia. #1. Because Mr.Hayashi Yuuteki created it. #2. Because one cheff Mr.Hayashi created it as a staff menu. #3. "Hashed beef with Rice" was corrupted. So, maybe no one is sure which?
fukdane 2
I think this was mentioned before, but is there one reason why daigaku imo has that name.
gamera 0
Coz at the begining, Daigaku imo was sold just close to Tokyo university gate.
viv&kev 0
What were they called before they sold them at the Tokyo uni gate?
gamera 0
I hear they were the first shop which sold it that's why I said at the "begining". Probably it was not sold before, I guess.
veronica 2
Does hayashi maybe have another meaning 'dog food'. I've only had bad experiences with hayashi rice with the so-called meat they put in it. Yuck.
gamera 0
Another meaning dog food? Hum... not sure what you mean. Maybe you were unlucky, just pitted in a bad place?
negimiso 0
She probably means "food suitable only to dogs, not humans". ie poor quality meat. I say the same thing sometimes.
