DumbStick 13
Can someone clear this up for me. The Japanese word "debu": - does it mean fat or ugly (or both)? - is it just slang? Thanks!
soubriquet 0
It's a pejorative for "fatty".
DumbStick 13
Thanks, thought it was a mix of both. But can someone be fairly slim but still be debu, or is the fatty part essential?
sakebomb 0
I think debu is just fat, ugly would be ブサイク (busaiku) or ブス (?).
jared 0
Here are some more words you may or may not find useful. (no ones judging here) debusen babasen (word for bald goes here)sen
soubriquet 0
Here a a few words to drop into the conversation next time you have a chat with your boss: debu (fat) chibi (short) hage (bald) kechi (stingy). Good luck
nzlegend 1
heres one to drop, a derivative of "debu" - Hyakan debu - Hyaku - 100 kan - old unit of weight measurement = 8 & 1/3 pounds debu - fat 833pounds fatty = "a really fat bastard" Konishiki is the ultimate Hyakan debu, (though he is only 613pounds)
SplendidSeekerOfMatferon6 0
hagesen? (bald)
DumbStick 13
Thanks for the explanations. I'll try to sprinkle my conversations with them.
woywoy 0
"Debusen" are "FAT ROLLS", or "Fat lines", literally. If you have ever put on a little weight you will know where I mean! A funny word.
woywoy 0
Another good slang word, while we are on the topic, is "Bar codo". In English, "Comb-over". (USELESS TRIVIA) In North Korea all males must have their hair shorter than 5cm ... to stop hippies I guess! The only exception being "hage" guys, who are allowed to have their hair to the way-out, hippy length of 7cm! That is right, 7cm. They are just way out there, those North Koreans! I wonder what they do if they catch you with hair that is 5.5cm long!
jared 0
I was told that debusen meant fetish for fatties and babasen was fetish for old ladies etc..

big-will 7
Doesnt that refer to the movement of said parts?
woywoy 0
It can mean both. デブ専 (debusen - fetish for fatties) OR デブ線 (fat lines/rolls)!
