As a former reader of British war comics, I object strongly to the expression "Biggles like specs". Like all ace RAF pilots, Biggles was a vision of manhood and the epitomy of the stiff upper lip. With 20/20 eyesight and carrot-powered night vision, spectacles would be neither use nor ornament to the great man.
