I'm curious as to what these spam people can get from sending something like this. There wasn't even a link or attachment. > Hard yes ride does write certain complete. sava 0 Posted June 11, 2005 Share Posted June 11, 2005 Short answer: This is done to confuse spam filters. Long answer: The way spam filters work is to associate certain words with spam. For instance, viagra, breasts, diploma, etc. Additionally, other words may be associated with being *not spam*. A new email is classed as being spam with a certain probability based on words being in the spam or not spam group - if a certain threshold is reached, the mail is classified as spam. What these emails do is associate non spam words with being spam, making classification of real spam much more difficult because either a) real messages get classified as spam and you decide not to use the spam filter spam doesn't get caught by the filter.
