Anyone got any good tips for commuting on trains into the city in this weather - to the point, how to survive it.

The worst part of the day, its a pain in the butt. How do you cope?

How do I cope - I don't really. I just (about) survive.

Unfortunatrly, the only real solution is to not work somewhere you need to commute to on the trains like that.

Not much help, hey? Sorry!

Time for those country-living people to get all smug again, maybe.

1: cycle to the station, slowly.

2: locate most pwerful air outlet on the platform, stand in front/below it.

3: same for train carriage.

4: maintain a yoga like state of calm, slows metabolism.

5: carry nothing.

6: put ice cubes in yer bra.

Here are my top commuting tips.

- Put plenty of milk in the coffee so it's lukewarm

- Walk up the stairs slowly so as not work up a sweat (and spill coffee)

- Wear only undershorts

- Open all the windows, but keep the shoji half closed

This makes for quite a comfortable start to the day.

What a tease you are.

Living like that would be worth so much to me - that or 50% wage increase, I'd still take that.......

Here's a solution for you - leave Japan from June until September. Apart from some of those lucky expat people (not jealous honest), pretty much impossible for most of us.
