lin 0
Silly question maybe, but what exactly IS JPOP??? Anything made by Japanese artistes?
Guest
You can even hear that Utada Hikaru girl on some of the music channels over here in the UK. She seems to be one of the main Japanese artists that they are "pushing" overseas. Is she really popular in Japan?
barok 0
you guys are freaks for this stuff. . . is it inevitable ?
gorilla 0
Hey Ocean11, you may know this - is it true that your faves Puffy released an album in the US and tried to make it there?
Ocean11 0
gorilla, I wouldn't know about that. I'm not_that_much of a fan despite appearances. But it may well be true - I have seen pictures of the two lovely tarts getting about in NY. Ayumi is the pits though isn't she? Her squawk seems to be getting worse while her 'penetration' becomes more invasive. I have Van Morrison, Oasis, Uncle Tupelo, Eminem, and Lauryn Hill lined up for my drive to Nozawa tomorrow. And some Puffy! Yeaaaah!!
Guest
Anyone here like Bz? They seem to the most "un-naff" of the bunch.
squidgy 0
Looks like Suzuki Ami might be back soon hey? Old "potato-head" AMURO is the best by far. For sheer marketing genius, Tsunku and his team get the prize (the people behind the Musumes, etc etc etc).
gorilla 0
My "Topic From Hell" resurfaces. Sorry folks! Hey, went to a pre-booked trip to Kandatsu Kogen yesterday, and it wasn't much fun. RAIN, for chrissakes.
JB 0
Has everyone forgotton the ear-piercingly-bad Southern All Stars from the conversation. Or am I maybe showing my age too much!
NoFakie 45
Good to see JB, the Soul Brother Number One, on this thread. Go on, give us a few lines of Funky President, will ya ! People people We gotta get over Before we go under ! People - Gotta get some land Grow our own food Just like the man ! That Southern dude is still knocking em out solo. Apparently he did the surfer one coz he started surfing on the wrong side of forty. As someone tempted to start on the wrong side of thirty, he gets my respect for that one. His tunes still blow goats however
JB 0
What's "blows goat"?
NoFakie 45
"Blows goats" = sucks big time. That's if I'm in tune with US slang. Don't ask me about the etymology. If they ever played any JB on the slopes I'd probably fall off the lift. Even the semi-duff 80s ones. Gravity The big G ! G-R-A-V-I-T-Y !
doggy-style 0
"blows goats"=old school, red neck slang... probably started in the earl 1900's in the midwest or deep south.. definitely in the country on a farm... where else would you try to give a BJ to a goat
IIIII 2
Hiromi go go go.... Just joking!
semi-d 0
I am new to Japan, but what constitutes "JPOP"? Is it any Japanese pop or rock? OR like Britpop and a certain sector?
cal 6
I watched that "Utaban" (?) program last night with the SMAP guy and that other tall bloke. They had Minimoni on with their new masterpiece....it just has to be seen/heard to be believed. Astonishing. That Tsunku producer guy must be getting quite rich now. Anyone remember him when he was first mincing about and looking a right plonker in SharanQ (forgive the spelling). How things change hey?
sore wa 0
sore wa - very difficult to answer!
Guest
I rather like Morning Musume myself at a party with lots of beer. Good party fun music. Oops, sorry, "music".

Ocean11 0
Cornelius is good. I love his version of Brazil. Some of his songs could definitely be called avant-garde.
Wizz 11
What has happened to Utada Hikaru - seems her "eggs" are being discussed all over the place. Poor lady.
Ocean11 0
Hikaru-chan's eggs are lousy, I'm sorry to say. She's been concentrating so hard on her musical career that all her cooking skills have been forgotten. Her eggs are always overcooked. I've been trying to get her to change her priorities, but she won't take the headphones off long enough to hear me out.
