Gaming doesn't seem to be as big as it was when I first was in Japan. I remember when Street Fighter 2 was all the rage and it was just mad, them Super Famicon days. There just doesn't seem to be the same energy for them - as well as maybe that games aren't cheap and people just aren't buying like they used to.

I'm sure if they made it cheaper, more people would buy more. As it is it's just too expensive for people to buy games, especialyl now when Japanese are getting smarter about where they spend their readies. Simple really.

It is getting cheaper...

 

here in Aus, you can get a NCG, PS2, XBX, all for around $299 with a game...

 

they used to be much more expensive....

 

the NCG is cheaper here because it dsont play dvds.

money wise the XBX is most expensive and PS2 just sits in the middle...

I just read a magazine talking about how the industry here is shrinking, and the pathetic position of the Xbox here in Japan. Funny that, seeing that the actual games themselves look so much more fun than they used to.
