We certainly have strayed far off the piste with this topic.

Ski patrol are actually zombies. They have no volition of their own and are unable to stop working and go and have some fun in the pow-pow. It's the same story with the zombies in Haiti.

Pervert

No there's no pow in Haiti, that's why the zombies don't go and play in it. They also work hard so they can go to Switzerland and get some.

akibun, don't let danz make you into his zombie. It's not right for a nice young woman to do that sort of thing.

In short, yes, voodoo is a religion. It is a tribal religion, much like any form of paganism.

Voodoo uses items from nature (plants, blood etc etc) and then combine them in a specific way and may use chants etc.

These "spells" can be used for good or evil. There are a myriad of things that can be achieved through the practicing of Voodoo (thats what the followers believe).

You will only find proper voodoo being practiced in tribal communities, and not in large cities. Although there are a lot of people who do practice it in large cities, it is in essence a tribal religion that works better when in a group.

Zombies - there have been several reports about voodoo practioners "raising zombies". This is waht the media would have you believe. Anytime you here about a zombie this is what usually happens. There are certain poisons fomr certain animals (such as fish) that when given in the correct dosage can cause the body to shut down and basically only just provide enough oxygen and circulation to keep the heart beating (but only slighty). To the naked eye the person will appear dead, and then after a couple of hours (when the poison wears off) they get up and walk away like nothing happened.

That is what a zombie is basically. Zombie's is not what voodoo is all about.

Well i hope this answers your questions!

Cheers!

There's a bit more to zombies than that. Especially in Haiti, people were first poisoned as described above, but they were also conned into believing that certain parts of their spirit were being kept in a bottle somewhere by somebody else. It was a kind of combined narcosis / hypnosis. They were then put to work doing unpleasant manual labour.

It was basically a kind of slavery.

Just like the ski patrol who for some reason believe they can't just duck a rope and go hollering and screaming through the pow like other free spirits.

Voodoo often mixes tribal religions with aspects of Christianity.

But like the ski patrol saying they 'understand' why you want to go in the powder, these people are practising a false religion.

Akibun-if you are a taxpayer and consumer here in Japan you are in fact indirectly paying for the Voodoo practices of the government, Japanese corporations and major Japanese banks. These sinister organizations are continually taking away your money to feed and keep alive many Zombie companies which should have been dead and buried long ago.

I forgot to mention - the reason why zombies look so awful is that they get the crap beaten out of them when they 'sign up' for zombiedom. So besides poisoning and hypnosis, intimidation is added to the mix.

It starts badly and continues rough...
