  1. Ok, so it's artificial... Sayama indoor ski area getting ready for their planned opening on 10/22 (from their web page): To save electricity, they say they started making snow later than usual this year, and have mostly been making snow at night.
  2. Actually, it was yesterday, just a sprinkling, and already gone today it seems. But snow nevertheless. And an excuse to try out the new topic prefixes. From the Grandeco web site:
  3. A bit of snow on show in Minamiuonuma and Yuzawa today. Only the very tops of the larger peaks. Good to see it. I had a bit of a drive and found a temple I had never seen before, so took a few snaps there too. Lovely.
  4. First snow on Mt Fuji as well I see. 6 days earlier than "average". 1 day earlier than last year. Hurray. [ I just wanted to create a new post to try and use the tags ]
  5. First snowfall recorded on Mt Shirouma sometimes called Mt Hakuba - (because same spelling in Chinese Characters) The peak is just under 3000 meters. Hopefully it will be the sign of a good season to come. I will try to post a pic if the summit is clear tomorrow.
  6. Hooray! First dusting of snow on the peaks of Asahidake in Hokkaido. Don't get too excited, not the season yet. But it is the same day as last year and '3 days earlier than normal', whatever that means.
